This presentation will introduce you to the fundamentals of Power BI, give you an idea of what is possible, and help you get over the initial learning curve so you can go back to the office and actually use Power BI to visualize your data.

Kendal Van Dyke is a career IT Professional with over 20 years of experience working with the Microsoft data platform. He currently works for Microsoft as a Senior Consultant specializing in SQL Server and Power BI, helping customers protect, optimize, and unlock the value of their data. Before joining Microsoft he was a DBA, consultant, and a 5-year SQL Server MVP. He is on Twitter as @SQLDBA.

Meeting Schedule and Structure

The Sacramento SQL Server User Group meets the first Wednesday of every month. Most meetings will have a presentation, while others are open group sessions which allow attendees to discuss SQL Server questions, issues and news as a group.

We start each meeting with some time to network and get situated. Unless otherwise noted, the schedule for each meeting will be:

6:00 PM - 6:15 PM: Mingle/networking, get food & beverages, presentation setup
6:15 PM - 6:30 PM: Group announcements, agenda, introduce speaker
6:30 PM - 7:30 PM: Presentation
7:30 PM - 8:00 PM: Post-meeting discussions
